How do you perform visual assessment?

A visual assessment cabinet is used to simulate various lighting conditions and to provide a consistent and accurate viewing environment for the visual assessment of colour across various samples.

Under the different types of light, fabrics can be visually appraised for colour differences using the James Heal Grey Scale, which provides a rating from 1 to 5.

The higher the number, the better the fabric’s colour fastness.

What types of products would be tested like this?

All fabrics and materials would be visually assessed for colour and appearance.
