Some instruments or parts of instruments are small or convenient enough to return to our factory for repair and/or calibration. We do have a repair service. Please contact support@james-heal.co.uk for advice.
The frequency of servicing should be at least once per year. Instruments with a lot of moving parts will gradually deteriorate, if they do not receive expert intervention. Regular servicing reduces the possibility of annoying breakdowns and preserves the value of your original investment.
As far as re-calibration is concerned, here again we recommend at least once per annum. If the calibration drifts, for whatever reason, you may be basing decisions on inaccurate test results. That could be potentially damaging to your Business! If you are audited and/or assessed by a third party, regular re-calibration will generate confidence in your Quality Management System.
Certification falls into two categories.
If you need a Certificate of Calibration for a Testing Instrument, we can supply one with a new instrument and subsequently arrange for a ‘James Heal’ engineer to visit your factory for re-calibration at an appropriate interval.
In many countries, we arrange regular service and calibration tours, meaning that our instrument technicians will visit you at about the same time each year. Even if you are a long way from us, the cost can still be quite reasonable, as the travelling expenses are shared between all tour participants.
All of our Calibration Procedures are based on ISO 17025. The key Procedures are UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accredited.
If you need a Certificate of Conformity for a Test Material, these are available to down load, free of charge, from this website. Click here to register for access.

All James Heal Testing Instruments and Test Materials are designed and manufactured at our Headquarters and Factory, located in Halifax, United Kingdom.
We have modern, precision, state-of-the-art, design and manufacturing facilities.
If you would like to look at our facilities and to check our capabilities, please let us know. We shall be really delighted to arrange a personal visit!
We aim to keep lead times for Testing Instruments relatively short. Normally, we can supply most standard instruments within approximately 4 weeks. However, we do experience periods of unanticipated, high demand and, under these circumstances, lead times may become more extended. However, if your requirements are urgent, we undertake to do whatever we can to satisfy your needs.
Standard Test Materials are kept in stock and we can therefore meet most demands without delay.
Most of our Testing Instruments have an automatic 18 months’ warranty. There are however a few exceptions, where the period is limited to 12 months. It is possible to pay a small premium to extend any warranty period. Please ask for more details.
Test Materials are sold with a 6 months’ warranty, subject to correct storage and use.
We give preference to users, who take out a service and/or calibration contracts with us. If you have a contract, then we provide engineering and applications support without additional cost.
Please contact support@james-heal.co.uk.
